Radio City With Jon Grayson & Rob Ross:  Episode One Hundred Thirty Two

This particular installment of Radio City…  is a total joy; Rob and Jon are at total ease and move seamlessly from one topic to another.  The boys are relaxed while completely on form.  Amongst the topics discussed are the World Series and the beginning of the baseball off-season; films – including Rob’s take on the recent David Crosby documentary; a deeply personal re-assessment of R.E.M.’s Fables Of The Reconstruction by Rob, a very interesting “In Our Heads” and, as always, even more!

You’ll really enjoy the vibe and warmth of Episode 132; it’s a clear indication of why so many people tune in and listen – so you do the same!  Come join us…

Dizzy Heights: The 2010s, Volume III

This mix sums up my decade as well as anything. Some guitars, but not too many. A bunch of machines. A lot of well-known songs surrounded by songs that my wife would describe as underneath the radar, but not far removed from the songs that everyone* knows. Basically, it’s UK pop, spun through my warped brain’s sensibilities.

Artists include: The Struts, AWOLNATION, Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys, Nothing but Thieves, Nigel Stanford, Editors, Atlas Genius, The Feeling, Drowners, Coasts, Elogy, School of Seven Bells, The Jezabels, David Bowie, No-Man, Kylie Minogue, Bear in Heaven, Roosevelt, Midnight Juggernauts, Chemical Brothers, Scissor Sisters, Galantis, Lindsey Stirling, Giorgio Moroder, Teddybears, The Ting Tings, Audio Bullys, Fever High, and Little Boots.

Thank you so much for listening.

In case you missed them, here are links for Volumes I and II. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Dizzy Heights: The 2010s, Volume II

I know, I’m releasing these too close together, sorry! If I wait until after Christmas, no one will see them, and I have at least one more to go, so it needs to go live now. I hope you can forgive me.

This show turned out decidedly poppier than the previous one (this will be “corrected” on Volume III), which is representative of where I went musically in the latter half of the decade, thanks in no small part to my kids (the girl in particular).

Artists include: Dan Wilson, Ben Folds & Nick Hornby, Fitz & the Tantrums, Hanson, The Seratones, Just Loud, Bastille, Daft Punk, Le Flex, Sia, Ellie Goulding, Jagwar Ma, OK Go, PHASES, Mark Ronson, Saint Motel, Sofi Tukker, Bell X1, Tom Bailey, The 1975, Keane, Cut Copy, Big Data, Bright Light Bright Light, Howard Jones, Stars, M83, Pet Shop Boys, Grace VanderWaal, Diego Garcia, and David Gray.

Thank you so much for listening!

In case  you missed Volume I…

Dizzy Heights: The 2010s, Volume I

I did not plan to make this, or any of the volumes to follow (two more, at least). I was just thinking to myself that this was the first time in a long time that I didn’t have to, or even want to, put a decade-end list together, and the feeling left me a bit wistful but mostly relieved. And then, strangely, inspired.

So I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper and jotted down any song I could think of from the 2010s. Then I moved that list into a spreadsheet. Before I knew it, I had about 150 songs. I started cutting and paste from one column to another, and within about 30 minutes, the bones of this show were finished. Adjust some volume levels and a couple transitions, and boom, it was finished. I’ll never again make a two-hour show this quickly.

Track listing, for the curious:

1. Franz Ferdinand – Always Ascending
2. Django Django – Default
3. Arcade Fire – Everything Now
4. The Rubens – Hallelujah
